About the venue

You will be working at at excellent European style steakhouse with a Farm to Table Philosophy celebrating the abundance of beautiful produce our region has to offer.

What you need to do

Our customer is seeking a qualified and experienced chef to join the Kitchen staff in the Bistro.

The Chef's role forms part of the Kitchen team, and is responsible in delivering high-level operational standards.

This role will require you to prepare and cook food in accordance with set requirements and regulations. You will be required to work with other staff members to deliver food in a fast-paced environment.

What they expect

To be considered for the job you should have:

  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Positive approach to change and desire to learn new skills
  • Maintain comprehensive product knowledge including ingredients, equipment, suppliers, markets and current trends and make appropriate adjustments to kitchen operations accordingly.
  • Ensure the highest standards of personal presentation, hygiene and conduct in accordance with the hotels standards
  • Fulfil other duties as required by management and other department personnel as requested/required.

Terms of employment
  • Minimum 3 months
  • Working hours 24 - 40 hours per week
  • Work daytime, evenings, weekends and public holidays
  • Valid Working Holiday Visa
  • A valid Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Competency Card
What the pay is like
  • Hourly gross wages $32.00
  • Payment is done per week

How to get there

You can fly into Sydney. Griffith is six hours’ drive from Sydney, you can also go by train or bus.

About accommodation

You can stay at any Hostel or get shared accommodation. Hostels go for between $150-200 per week and rooms in shared accommodation go for $200-350 per week.

About the area

The city of Griffith is located in the Riverina Murray region of south-western NSW, about 570 kilometres west of Sydney.

Griffith's wine region is renowned for its cool climate wines, and is one of the largest wine growing regions in New South Wales. Sit back and relax at one of the many wineries around Griffith, surrounded by acres of vines, and enjoy a delectable meal, a high quality glass of wine and other produce on offer such as mature cheeses.

Griffith is a little piece of Italy in the heart of the Riverina. It still has the extraordinary statistic that 60% of the city's population have Italian ancestors and it still celebrates Italian culture with extensive vineyards in the region, providores in the town selling local produce, and excellent cafes and restaurants where the pasta and coffee can be favourably compared to the best that Sydney (and Italy) can offer.
