You will be working for a highly successful event and function operator. They operate architectural award-winning locations for conventions, exhibitions and unique corporate event spaces.

You will be working together with their teams to service and support their clients through the entire event process.

With over 50 years of experience in the hospitality industry, they know a thing or two about putting together a spectacular event!

They have one venue with three exceptional buildings; Convention Centre, Exhibition Centre and Aware Super Theatre – all state-of-the-art structures designed to house everything from rock concerts to global summits where world leaders can connect and shape the future.

Situated right in the heart of Sydney, the CBD and financial districts are just a stone’s throw away to the east. South of the venue you’ll find a thriving tech precinct and university campuses.

The area directly surrounding the event centre has been beautifully revamped. Green parkland sits beside bars and restaurants, and retail stores and luxury apartments nestle up to opulent hotels. This is everything Sydney’s CBD has to offer, all in one thriving enclave.

What you need to do

Exciting opportunity to recruit for a Chef de Partie – Pastry within a production kitchen.  

You will join a large team of passionate and skilled chefs in the delivery of world-class cuisine for the Convention, Exhibition and Theatre events. Our Feeding your Performance philosophy embraces fresh, seasonal and ethically sourced ingredients, expertly combined into our menus.    

This role requires strong communication skills as you liaise with the Senior Chefs to facilitate the smooth running of sections. Your innate ability to ensure food safety standards, preparation, presentation and cooking techniques are established and monitored to meet our standards will be your key strength.  

In addition, the role requires careful supervision to assist the effective control of the kitchen’s food cost, portion control, labor cost, productivity and wastage. In conjunction with the senior Chefs, support the creation of industry leading menu concepts with a focus on in-house produced seasonal dishes.

What they expect

In this diverse and dynamic environment, key to your success will be your ability to provide superior communication with a proven track record in supervising a large kitchen brigade.

You will have previous experience assisting the day-to-day running of the Pastry section. In addition to the above, you will also fulfil the following criteria:

  • Assist in maintaining food costs
  • A creative flair
  • Facilitate smooth running of the sections
  • Flexible to work a structured yet varied roster
  • Maintaining a positive team environment
  • Ability to work in a large and diverse team
Terms of employment
  • Working hours 40 hours per week
  • Work daytime, evenings, weekends and public holidays
  • Valid Working Holiday Visa

What the pay is like

Hourly gross wages $30.00 per hour or more

You will fly into Sydney. The Location is in the Sydney harbour so no worries getting to work. Public transport, walk or bike.. easy peasy :)

About accommodation

You can stay at any Hostel or get shared accommodation. Hostels go for between $150-200 per week and rooms in shared accommodation go for $200-350 per week.
